Agrotectur provides a transdisciplinary platform to apply innovative thinking to the futurescape of the city. Agrotectur’s mission is to create opportunities to cultivate urban agriculture and to address urban sustainability through the promotion of the active farming of the city’s surfaces, its architecture and its spaces.
Agrotectur seeks to harness local food production to improve the health and wellbeing of its citizens and their communities by developing proactive food policies to support food entrepreneurs, to engage public participation and to integrate community growing activities in order to transform and diversify district food amenities.
It is through the engagement with urban agriculture that we can actively contribute to improving the quality of a green lifestyle.
The ‘greening’ of the city and the emergent field of agritecture utilises the existing urban fabric as a platform to support green places. It seeks to address the demands of urbanisation and the management of growing activities ranging from traditional horticulture, allotments, orchards, community projects to high-tech structures such vertical gardening, greenhouses, biospheres and aquaponic structures.
